VB6 Developer

Software development company that specializes in the financial software arena, specifically for the agricultural sector, by delivering solutions for compliance and business growth to farmers and their advisors.

Position Purpose

This role is responsible for building quality software aligned with the product roadmap and will be involved in code development of our core VB6 product, Agrimaster 6.5.

Responsibilities

• Play a key role in the enhancement of our core VB6 client-facing product.
• Resolve any issues or bugs of the core VB6 product, for our customers.
• Run, design, and review code as required by the software development team.
• Take part in feature analysis, concept and development from a technical perspective.
• Investigate and solve ad-hoc user issues (product-related).
• Have a passion for quality and writing clean, solid, readable code that scales and performs well.
• Ensure our infrastructure is safely extensible, scalable, and reliable.
• Play a key role in the building and deployment of the core VB6 product.
• Work alongside our Business Analyst, Development Lead and key business stakeholders on aligning the system changes to our customer requirements.

Essential Criteria

• Bachelors or Master’s in Computer Sciences or equivalent working experience.
• Proven experience in VB6 coding and working with Windows desktop environments.
• Experience with tools such as Visual Studio / Visual Basic IDE, source control, unit testing, debugging, profiling, etc.
• Experience with Agile software development practices including Continuous Delivery practices.
• Deep understanding of the .NET Framework and object-oriented concepts.
• Deep understanding of design patterns.
• Experience with SQL server, or similar, from schema design to writing complex, optimised queries.
• Have a passion for quality and writing clean, solid, readable code that scales and performs well.
• The ability to integrate and work closely with stakeholders not just within the Development Team, but also across the business.

Desirable Criteria

• Any experience or track record of building, n-tier, component-based, service-oriented enterprise applications using Microsoft technology platform.
• Experience in Cloud computing (Azure).
• Angular v12+ coding experience
• C# coding experience
• Experience and understanding of Web API / Function apps

Work Details

• Shift: Monday to Friday: 6:00am- 3:00pm or 7:00am- 4:00pm PH Time; depending on business needs
• Location: Work from Home
• Status: Contract/ Project Based (6mos)
